Jacob Lee Johnson

Jacob Lee Johnson is a Daytime Emmy Award-winning producer, editor, and screenwriter working in both Los Angeles and New York City. He has produced and edited over twenty hours of network television for NBCUniversal across their LXTV and Syfy channels, as well as primetime specials hosted by A-list actors such as Viola Davis and Helen Mirren. At just twenty-two years old, he created, produced, and edited the NBC docuseries Sincerely, GenZ, focused on elevating young diverse voices.

For nearly a decade, he has worked in story development, providing scripts, notes, and coverage on more than 1,000 projects at Disney, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Slated Inc., and HoYoverse.

While his live-action short films have won multiple festival awards including “Best Romantic Short Film” at IndieX, his animated shorts for the top-selling game Genshin Impact have each earned over 10 million views across digital platforms.

Jacob received his B.A. in Screenwriting & Producing from Regent’s University London on their highest awarded scholarship. Inspired by the international film industry, he formed the university’s first film society, and completed extracurricular workshops in transmedia storytelling and VR filmmaking. During his studies, he worked as a Campus Speaker Assistant during the London Screenwriter’s Festival, providing support to notable screenwriters and filmmakers including Stephen Frears, Paul King, and Indira Varma.

After graduating, Jacob completed short courses in Anthropology from the University of Oxford, and a foundational acting program with the world-renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Jacob is a Senior Story Analyst for Slated, a filmmaking platform for packaging and financing independent films. His role requires evaluating spec scripts based on the impact of their storytelling mechanics, including structure, premise, character, tone, dialogue, pacing, originality, and craft. Since 2015, he’s provided notes and feedback on dozens of projects that turned into theatrical releases, including Manchester By the Sea, House of Gucci, and Mudbound.
